Information Concerning Security Bug openSSL software

This week, a security bug has been found in openSSL software. This software is widely used to send information securely over internet. The online archivingssystem EASY of DANS was also affected. We have taken immediate action and this security problem has been solved for EASY. Users, for whom we have established that their passwords may have been compromised, have received an e-mail with a request to change their password.

You can find further information about this security problem on Wikipedia

If you have any questions, please contact Arnoud Jippes (arnoud.jippes@dans.knaw.nl).

Welcome to EASY

EASY is the online archiving system of Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS). EASY offers you access to thousands of datasets in the humanities, the social sciences and other disciplines. EASY can also be used for the online depositing of research data.

Finding data

You can start your search for data in EASY at the top of this page by typing a search term in the search box, or by using the 'Browse' or the 'Advanced search' button.

The collection includes datasets from the Humanities, e.g. History and Archaeology, Social and behavioural sciences, and Geospatial sciences. Data and documentation files are available for downloading free of charge for registered users. If you don't have an account yet, please register yourself first. In a number of cases, permission from the depositor is required before you can download the datafiles. You'll find more information on finding data on the DANS website.

Depositing data

You can deposit your research data securely online in EASY by clicking the button 'New deposit' at the upper right corner of this page. If you don't have an account yet, please register yourself first.

DANS stores the data in a permanent and sustainable manner, according to the guidelines of the international Data Seal of Approval. The data will be made available to other researchers under the conditions you specified. See the general Licence agreement for more juridical information about depositing data at DANS. You'll find practical instructions on depositing data per discipline under 'New deposit', or on the DANS website.
